Professional Organizing in Maryland

Hands-on Professional Organizing, decluttering, and custom storage systems for busy families in Annapolis, Baltimore, and across central Maryland. We do the work so you can have your weekends back.

Real Homes. Real Families. Real Systems.

The Pinterest version of an organized home is staged for a camera. The version we build is staged for your Tuesday morning, which is a very different thing.

Many of the families we work with have already watched the videos on YouTube. They spent multiple weekends pulling everything out of closets, only to lose steam by 3 p.m. with a bigger mess than they started with. If that sounds familiar, here is the thing: trying harder is not what fixes it. A real system is.

We have been organizing homes across Maryland for over a decade. Our team comes in, takes everything out, sorts it with you, helps you decide what stays, sources the products, builds the system, labels it, and walks you through how to maintain it. By the time we leave, every drawer, shelf, and cabinet has a job to do, and your family can actually keep it up after we are gone. (That last part is the one most people don’t believe until they see it.)

Custom kitchen and pantry organization by Systems by Susie

What We Organize

We can help with your whole house, a single room, or even that ever-growing pile of papers that has been a thorn in your side for years. Whatever the project, we have a system for it. Here is what families bring us in to tackle most often.

Kitchens and Pantries

The room where everyone ends up, and the room that takes the most beating. We sort, decant, label, and build pantry systems that hold up to school lunches, weeknight dinners, and after-school snack time. We thoughtfully create zones and layout your kitchen based on your natural habits and preferences, customizing it for the way you live.

Closets

Primary closets, kids’ closets, linen closets, and entryway closets. We work with what you already have, or we can help you design the closet of your dreams. The goal is that everything you actually wear and use is visible and reachable. The stuff you have been holding onto out of guilt? We have an approach for that too.

Bedrooms

The nightstand drawer that has become a graveyard for cords and old Chapstick. The under-bed bins you forgot existed. We organize primary bedrooms, guest rooms, and kids’ rooms so the place you sleep actually feels like rest.

Playrooms and Kids’ Spaces

If you have ever stepped on a Lego at 11 p.m., you know what we are working with. Playrooms are tricky because the systems have to work for kids of all ages, parents who are exhausted, and grandparents who are just trying to help. We build setups your kids can manage themselves, adding picture labels for the younger ones, so cleanup does not always default to you.

Mudrooms and Laundry Rooms

The drop zone for backpacks, shoes, sports gear, and coats. The laundry room that has somehow become a holding cell for half-folded clothes nobody puts away. These are the highest-traffic spaces in most homes and the ones that fall apart first when systems are not built right. Everything needs a home. We often tackle both together because they tend to feed into each other.

Bathrooms

You start and end each day in here, so an unorganized bathroom has an outsized impact on your daily routine. We organize linens, toiletries, makeup, hair tools, and medicine cabinets so your mornings stop feeling like you are rummaging through a hotel lost-and-found. Pro Tip from our team: most bathrooms are storing about 40% of products nobody in the house actually uses anymore.

Garages and Storage

The garage where you cannot actually park anymore. The basement that became long-term storage for things nobody remembers buying. We sort, purge, donate, and create zoned systems for tools, sports gear, seasonal storage, and holiday bins. By the time we leave, you can find your Elf on the Shelf in December, which, trust us, is harder than it sounds.

Outdoor Spaces

Patios, decks, sheds, and pool storage. The grilling tools, the gardening supplies, the kids’ outdoor toys, and the cushions you swore you would put away last fall and didn’t. We organize everything that lives outside your walls so summer weekends start with let’s go instead of where did we put the patio umbrella.

Home Offices and Paper

The mail pile. The school paperwork that builds up between Monday and Friday. The receipts you swore you would file. We tackle paper management head-on and set up systems for the long-term documents and everyday papers that actually need to be kept, so the rest stops taking over your kitchen counter.

How We Work

This process has been refined over more than a decade and a few hundred homes. Six steps, no improvising. You always know what comes next.

1

Plan

We start with an in-person consultation. You walk us through what is working, what is not, and where your biggest frustrations live. We take photos, measurements, and notes, then follow up with a custom proposal so you know exactly what to expect.

2

Sort

On organization day, we jump right in and pull everything out. Yes, all of it. We group like with like so you can finally see what you actually own. This “messy middle” part can feel a little overwhelming for some clients, but we are right at your side guiding you through it.

3

Purge and Declutter

We will never make you get rid of anything, but we will ask the right questions to help you decide what stays. Everything that goes is donated to a trusted local charity. You never have to carry donations around in your trunk again.

4

Contain

This is the fun part. We measure, plan, shop, and install storage products that match your space and style. No tossing items into random bins and hoping for the best. Every category gets a real home in a container that is both beautiful and functional.

5

Label

Labels are how systems survive after we leave. We use word labels for adults and picture labels for kids, so everyone in the household can find what they need and put it back where it belongs. They are the key to maintaining organization!

6

Maintain

The systems we set up are built to last. Clients can easily maintain the order we create, but for busy families that need additional support, our Refresh Membership program brings us back four times a year to refresh the systems and keep their home looking good all year long.

Why Families Across Maryland Choose Systems by Susie

A Team of Professionals

We are not a solo organizer with a side hustle. Our team of fifteen experienced Professional Organizers means we can take on bigger projects, and finish in a few days what would take you a few months. We take pride in being experts in our field and invest in continuing education and team training.

Judgment-Free, Always

Almost every client opens with apologizing for the mess. We mean it when we say we have seen it all! We are here because you had the courage to reach out. You don’t need to clean before we come. Where we start does not matter to us. Where we end up is the only thing that does.

Products Sourced for You

You do not need to buy bins. You do not need to figure out the right hangers. Product sourcing, ordering, returns, and styling are all included in our proposals, so you are not making a dozen Target runs on top of everything else.

Systems Built for Real Life

We build around how your household actually operates, not how it should operate in a magazine. Kids, pets, blended schedules, work-from-home setups, multiple club sports, whatever your life looks like, the system gets built around it.

Long-Term Support

One-and-done is not how we work. Our membership program brings us back four times a year to refresh, adjust, and keep things running. Kids grow, seasons shift, and the system evolves with your family rather than slowly falling apart in the background.

Maryland-Based, Maryland-Focused

We serve Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Howard, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties. We know the donation spots, the storage solutions for historic Maryland homes, and the neighborhoods. This is local work, done by a local team.

Susie Salinas, founder of Systems by Susie

About Susie and the Team

In 2014, Susie Salinas started Systems by Susie with one mission: lightening the loads of busy women and their families so they could have more time to focus on what they love. Today, she leads a team of fifteen incredible organizers across six Maryland counties.

Susie was a military spouse for two decades and a former event planner and teacher before this. That combination shaped how the team operates. She and her team (which includes many military spouses) have a heart for service, and love using their organization skills and expertise to meaningfully transform clients’ lives. Susie is a big believer in shared household responsibilities, and knows that once a home is organized and set up with systems, others can jump in to help. The ultimate goal is a home that runs so smoothly that you can spend your weekends guilt-free on the Chesapeake Bay instead of in your garage organizing.

Susie and her team are life-long learners, and value continuing education and team training. Every member of the team is fully insured, background-checked, and trained in the Systems by Susie process. We treat every home we walk into the way we would treat our own.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most single-space projects, like a pantry, a closet, or a home office, wrap up in one session of about six hours. Larger projects like full garages or whole-home organization can take anywhere from a few days to a week of scheduled sessions, depending on the scope. We give you a timeline at your consultation so you know what to expect.

Yes. We need you for a few hours during the decluttering phase so you can make decisions about what stays and what goes. After that, you are free to relax or work from home while we organize, contain, and label, though we may need to check in occasionally with questions about your preferences.

No. Please do not. The whole point is that we meet you where you are. We actually prefer that you leave things as they are so we can identify the hot spots and build systems that prevent the pileup in the future.

This is the question we hear most often, and it is a fair one. The honest answer is yes, if the system is built right. We design every system specifically so your household can maintain it without you having to nag anyone. And if things do start to drift, because life happens, our Refresh Membership program brings us back four times a year to reset and adjust, or we can come back for a maintenance refresh as needed.

We handle it. For small donations, we will take them with us at no charge. For larger amounts, we schedule a free pickup at your home for the next day through a local charity. Everything goes to local Maryland donation partners we know and trust.

Spring and late summer, the moving and back-to-school seasons, book up first, so we recommend reaching out as soon as possible. For smaller projects, we can often get you on the calendar within four to six weeks. The fastest way to lock in a date is to book a consultation.

Absolutely. Most of our clients have both. We design systems with kids and pets in mind, including picture labels for younger kids and pet-friendly storage solutions. We do ask that pets be in a separate room while we are working.
