Practical and Economical
PRODUCTS
- White bins with Handles – $7 (Large) – Our go to for budget-friendly projects. The large bins can hold a lot and they coordinate with many other organizing staples.
- White Hangers – $7 (for 12) – Even if your budget is low, we recommend spending a little to get matching hangers. It will really make a big difference in the appearance of your closet, and how things fit on the hanging rods.
- White Mesh Shoe Shelf – $20 – This is an inexpensive option for keeping shoes from piling up on the ground. They are stackable, so you can add as many as you need (and have space for). If you’re low on floor space, you can also try an over-the-door shoe organizer.
- Hanging Purse Organizer – $12 – This is a great space saver, especially if you don’t have a lot of shelving in your closet. It can hold 8+ purses. Limit yourself to the slots available; keep your favorites, and donate the rest.
- Large Shoe Boxes – $3.50 – Another low-cost option, that we use for way more than shoes! You can keep seasonal accessories in these and rotate them out twice a year. They stack nicely and are always available at The Container Store, so you can pick up more when you need them.
- Stackable Baskets – $10 (Large) – We love these in kids’ spaces especially. They are easy for kids to access (which means they can get their own clothes and put them away).
Mid-Range Magic
PRODUCTS
- Diamond Kiva Bins – $20 (Large) – We LOVE these. They are mid-range in price when it comes to decorative baskets but look SO good and hold up well. Use these on shelves with gold bin clips for a super high end look for less.
- White shoe shelf – $30 (2 pictured) – Simple and clean, these shelves will blend right in under your hanging racks. They stack, so you can get as many as you need and have space for.
- Black Velvet Hangers – $10 (for 10) – These are our go-to hangers when a client is looking to upgrade. Their slim profile allows you to fit more on each hanging rack and they are always available if you need to grab more.
- Shelf Divider – $18 – If you prefer to see your clothing (rather than using bins), simply stack them on shelves and use these in between each folded pile to offer support. Things won’t topple over and you’ll be able to grab what you need easily.
- Purse Organizer – $20 – For only $20, this is a high-end look for a reasonable price. If you don’t have a lot of purses, these are a great option and would look very nice on a shelf next to a Kiva bin!
- Elfa Drawer System – $131 – Yes, this is the priciest item on this list, but it looks great and holds a lot of clothes! This is a great alternative to a dresser if you are short on space in your primary suite.
High End Splurge
PRODUCTS
- Stackers Jewelry and Accessory System – $43 – Stackers add a touch of elegance to any closet. With different options for every type of accessory, you can build a custom set to meet your needs.
- Luxe Acrylic Bin – $50 – Pricey, I know. But they look super clean and modern on a shelf and allow you to see what’s inside if that is important to you. They are thick and sturdy, meaning they’ll hold up well over time.
- Drop Front Sweater Box – $32 – The best of both worlds – the look of a high end bin with a window to allow you to see inside easily. As a bonus, the full box design will keep dust off clothing, making these a great off-season storage option.
- Wooden Hangers – $11 (for 6) – If you want a step above the velvet hangers from the mid-range collection and have a little extra space, opt for wooden hangers. They’ll keep clothes looking nice and add a touch of elegance to any closet.
- Clutch Organizer – $40 – A great option to pair with the Luxe Acrylic Bin, this clutch organizer is something we’ve used in a lot of closets. It can help limit your collection to only those you love, while showing them off and keeping them easily accessible.
- Montauk Baskets – $35 (Large) – We use these a lot in our coastal area, because they hold a lot and have a classic look that blends with many home and decor styles. The straight sides make storing file folded clothes easy!
Remember that before organizing your closet, it’s really important to do a ruthless edit. Having too much stuff for your space puts strain on even the best organizational systems.
