Office Organization Tips

  • Sit at your desk and think through how you work. Identify your most frequently used items and arrange your office in a way that gives you access to those items from your chair.
  • Use backstock cabinets to help you minimize what’s in and on your desk. This goes for both supplies and files. Keep only the essentials in your desk; store the rest away in another part of the office.
  • In almost every office, the main culprit of clutter is paperwork. There are two main steps to getting it under control:
  1. Go through everything and decide what you REALLY need to keep. Not sure? Revisit my Organizing Important Papers blog.
  2. Set up a system that will keep the papers from piling up again. If you love hard copies, you’ll need a good filing system. Otherwise, I highly suggest going paperless.

Office Organization Resources

If you need additional support getting your paperwork under control, check out my Reset Workshop Bundle. It includes classes on Paper Clutter, the Weekly Reset process, and Digital Organization.

If you are local to Annapolis and need a way to get rid of sensitive paperwork after editing what you have or going paperless, be sure to stop by our upcoming Shred It event on April 2, 2022, from 8 to 10 a.m. at 900 Bestgate Rd. We’ll have coffee and donuts to enjoy while you wait for Iron Mountain to shred your documents on site.

You can shred: any color office paper and file folders; no need to remove staples, paper clips, or rubber bands! You cannot shred: cardboard, plastics, common trash, hazardous materials, CDs, DVDs, magnetic media, X-Rays, computers & accessories.

Finally, know that my team is always here as a resource for you. Offices can be overwhelming; if you need to outsource this project to save time, reach out! You can use these mood boards as a guide for our consultation, so we can figure out your style and your needs together. We’d love to help you create an office space you love.

Happy Organizing!
