Concierge Moves: How One Maryland Family Skipped the Chaos

What if you could leave from your old house for vacation and come home to your new one, fully unpacked, completely organized, and ready to live in from day 1?

No packing. No moving day chaos. No weeks of digging through boxes trying to find the coffee maker. Just your new home, set up exactly the way you want it, with the beds made and fridge stocked, waiting for you when you walk through the door.

It sounds impossible. But for the Cirksena family, that’s exactly what happened.

Meet the Cirksena Family

The Cirksena family was relocating within Annapolis to their dream home on the water, with two kids and a very busy lifestyle. They knew a cross-town move on top of everything else would be overwhelming—but they also had a trip to Europe planned that they didn’t want to cancel

They’d heard about our concierge move service and wondered: could we really handle everything while they were out of the country?

The answer was yes. And the results speak for themselves.

What Exactly Is a Concierge Move?

A concierge move is exactly what it sounds like: white-glove, start-to-finish moving support where we handle every detail so you don’t have to.

This isn’t just “help with packing and unpacking.” It’s a full-service experience that transforms an empty house into a completely functional home, without you lifting a single box.

Here’s what a concierge move with Systems by Susie typically includes:

Before the move:

  • Decluttering and editing belongings (so you’re not paying to move things you don’t need)
  • Packing everything with care, using a color-coded labeling system
  • Creating a detailed inventory and plan for the new space

During the move:

  • Hiring or coordinating directly with your moving company
  • Directing movers at your old house and new house so every box lands in the correct room
  • Providing lunch, drinks, and cash tips for the movers
  • Overseeing the entire process so nothing falls through the cracks

After the move:

  • Unpacking every single box
  • Organizing every closet, cabinet, and drawer
  • Making beds and stocking the fridge
  • Coordinating vendors to hang tv’s and artwork
  • Removing all packing materials and boxes
  • Placing personal items and finishing touches throughout the home

When you walk through the door, you’re not starting a weeks-long unpacking project. You’re home.

Who Is a Concierge Move For?

Honestly? Anyone who wants to skip the chaos of moving and walk straight into their new life. But we find this service is especially valuable for:

  • Busy professionals and executives: When your calendar is packed with work obligations, spending weekends buried in boxes isn’t realistic. A concierge move lets you stay focused on your career while we handle the transition.
  • Professional athletes and their families: Our location between Baltimore and Washington, D.C., means we do many sports relocations for athletes and coaches from teams in both cities: the Ravens, Orioles, Nationals, Washington Commanders, Capitols, and Wizards. When you’re flying in for training camp, your season is about to start, or you need to relocate fast because of a mid-season trade, the last thing you need is to worry about where your dishes are. We get players and their families settled and game-ready, sometimes within days of closing on a new home.
  • Relocating families with kids: Moving is hard on everyone, but especially on kids who are changing schools, leaving friends, and adjusting to a new environment. When they can walk into their new bedroom and see their books on the shelf and their clothes in the closet, it makes the transition so much easier. (And parents get to skip the “living out of boxes for a month” phase entirely.)
  • Anyone going through a major life transition: Whether you’re downsizing after the kids leave, combining households, or relocating for a job, transitions are emotionally and physically exhausting. A concierge move takes the logistical burden completely off your plate so you can focus on adjusting to your new chapter.
  • Busy families who just don’t want to do it: Let’s be honest: some people simply don’t want to spend their limited free time packing boxes and organizing kitchen cabinets. That’s completely valid. If you have the means and would rather spend your time with your family, traveling, or doing literally anything else, that’s reason enough.

How the Cirksena Move Came Together

While the Cirksena family was enjoying their time in Europe, our team was hard at work back in Maryland.

  • Phase 1: Preparing the old home: We started at their previous house, spending a week carefully decluttering, sorting, and packing everything they’d be taking to the new home. Every box was labeled with our color-coded system so movers would know exactly which room each box belonged to, with no guessing and no confusion.
  • Phase 2: Coordinating moving day: On moving day, our team was on-site directing traffic at both the old and new houses. We worked directly with the movers to ensure every item was handled properly and delivered to the correct space in the new home. Nothing was left to chance, and nothing was damaged.
  • Phase 3: Transforming the new house: Once the movers left, the real work began. We unpacked every box. Organized every drawer, closet, and cabinet. Made the beds with fresh linens. Stocked the refrigerator with groceries. Hung the artwork and family photos. Placed personal items exactly where they belonged.

When we were done, we removed every scrap of packing material. No boxes, no paper, no tape, no chaos.

The result: When the Cirksena family walked through their front door at 10 pm after a long international return flight, they didn’t walk into a house full of boxes. They walked into a home—their home—perfectly ready for them to sleep in their own bed from that very first night.

Frequently Asked Questions About Concierge Moves

Our concierge move service covers everything from start to finish: decluttering before the move, packing with a color-coded system, coordinating with movers, unpacking at the new home, organizing every room, and adding finishing touches like making beds and hanging artwork. We tailor each project to your specific needs, so you get exactly the level of support you want.

Many moving companies offer packing and unpacking services, and they’re great at getting your belongings safely from Point A to Point B. But that’s where their job ends. Add in more complicated moves where some things go into storage, and some to the new house, and things get confusing fast! They don’t have the color-coded spreadsheets like we do.

They’ll put your dishes in a box (maybe labeled as “Kitchen” but no more specific than that), take them out of the box, and put them on the counter, but they won’t sort through your kitchen first to decide what’s actually worth moving, and they won’t put them in the right cabinets after unpacking. They’ll unpack your clothes onto the bed, but they won’t organize your closet by category or season. And they’re definitely not setting aside your sheets, pillows, and comforter so you can make your bed on the first night, stocking your fridge, or hanging your family photos. Movers label boxes according to the rooms at your old house, not for your new house, which often causes confusion when movers arrive at the new home and things once stored in your basement should now be in your garage. We think and plan ahead for you so all boxes are placed in the correct location the first time.

A concierge move goes beyond transportation. We handle the decluttering and editing before you pack, the organizing and styling after you unpack, and all the thoughtful details that turn a house full of stuff into a home that’s actually ready to live in.

Nope! That’s the beauty of it. Our concierge move clients often leave before moving day so they can escape the organized chaos and instead enjoy cocktails on the beach. The Cirksena family was literally in Europe during their whole 12,000sq ft home move. We do a thorough whole-home consultation to understand your preferences and walk through your spaces, but once we have a plan, we can execute it independently. We ask questions so we know what products you use daily for skincase, and what you put in your coffee.  No detail is overlooked. We want your home to be customized exactly for how you live on Day 1. Many clients hand us the keys and check in via text and photos along the way.

Absolutely. We understand that trades and signings happen fast, and you need to be focused on your game—not on unpacking boxes. We’ve helped athletes and their families get fully settled in a matter of days. Just reach out as soon as you know you’re relocating and we’ll make it happen. We can also help pack up coaches and athletes as they return to their home state during the off-season.

The earlier the better, especially during peak moving seasons (late spring through early fall). For a full concierge move, we recommend reaching out 3-6 months before your move date so we have time to plan properly. That said, we know moves don’t always happen on a predictable schedule. If you’re in a pinch, call us, and we’ll see what we can do.

We serve families throughout Anne Arundel County, including Annapolis, Severna Park, Crofton, and Edgewater, as well as parts of Howard, Prince George’s, Baltimore, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties. For Ravens and Orioles players, we often work in the Owings Mills area. Our location between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. makes us a great fit for professionals relocating to the Maryland area. We also help those living in DC who purchase a second home on the Eastern Shore or Rehoboth and Ocean City beaches.

Every move is different, so we provide custom quotes based on your specific situation. Factors include the size of your home, how much packing and decluttering is needed, your timeline, and how much support you want at the new house. The best way to get a sense of investment is to schedule a consultation. We’ll walk through your needs and provide a detailed proposal.

Please don’t be. Truly. We’ve seen it all, and there’s nothing that surprises or phases us at this point. You do not need to wait until things are cleaned up before calling us. Our whole job is to take the chaos and turn it into calm. That’s what we’re here for. No judgment, ever, just support.
